'TREE ROOTS' LOCATION JUST RECENTLY DISCOVERED
In July 2020 the original location of the Tree Roots was discovered. Not the painting, as it can be visited in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. But the actual tree roots in Auvers-sûr-Oise that Van Gogh painted.
For a long time experts assumed that Van Gogh’s last painting was painted in a style moving from post-impressionistic towards abstract. Until a postcard from the 1920’s revealed the actual roots. The same shape of the original roots are still intact and you can have a look at them only 150 meters away from the Auberge Ravoux in Rue Daubigny where Van Gogh stayed.
To his brother Theo he wrote: "Ah, it seems to me more and more that people are the root of everything.”
